"The Thing on the Doorstep" has long been my favorite work of Lovecraft. When I read in Rue Morgue that it was next on the list of DVD releases from Lurker Films, I was more than elated, placing my advance order a month before it was released.
I recieved the DVD a few days ago, and I have to say: although the filmmakers took some liberties with the story . . . IT WORKS! DAMN, does it work! The relationship between Edward Derby and Asenath Waite (and Daniel Upton) is touched upon so brilliantly, I honestly don't think a better job could have been done.
I'm more than pleased with the DVD - the shorts are great, and (again), Lurker Films has put out an essential part of any Lovecraft devotee's collection.
Great job, and I'm looking forward to many more years of quality material from Lurker!
